Zayn Qahtani
b. 1997, Bahrain — lives and works in London

Combining drawing, painting and sculpture, Qahtani pieces together a personal archaeology of lived experience, inherited histories and imagined futures. Qahtani’s work draws from the material and archaeological histories of Bahrain, the belief systems of antiquity and the natural world. Filtered through memory, grief and transformation, these references find form in landscapes and figures that seem perpetually on the brink of alchemy.

Qahtani works with Bahraini date-palm paper, plant-based bioplastics, abalone shell and pigments made from minerals and natural earths. By pairing materials rooted in Bahrain’s cultural landscape with contemporary processes, she collapses past and future into the same physical language.

Qahtani received an MA in Sculpture from the Royal College of Art in 2024. Recent solo exhibitions include Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery, London (2026); Tube Culture Hall, Milan (2025); and VITRINE, London (2023). Her work is held in collections including Sixi Museum, Nanjing, and Dalloul Art Foundation, Beirut.
